After three intense days with Apple's Mac OS X Leopard Version 10.5, I have three main things to say about it. First: despite minor problems, it's by far the best operating system ever written for the vast majority of consumers, with dozens of new features that have real practical value—like truly automated backups, preview images in folders, and notes and to-do lists integrated into the mail program. Propeller-heads with IT know-how will no doubt hold up Linux as the better choice, and Vista has its devotees as well(and will probably have more when SP1 is widely available), but, for the average user, Leopard is the most polished and easiest to use OS I've tested. Second: Leopard still has a generous share of first-version glitches, some of which are merely annoying, and others of which can cause serious problems for anyone upgrading an existing system. Finally, Leopard is extravagantly overdressed for the jobs that it's designed to do. Don't get me wrong, I really like it but the pervasive eye-candy starts out looking dazzling can become distracting.

They rated Leopard 4.5 of 5 so its not perfect but pretty darn good.

Beginning to wish Core could actually supply something they advertised . . . but that is hardly a new wish :o

Sounds better every time somebody does a review on Leopard...


...compare it to Vista, Vista have had more negative publicity than Leopard... :D
 
Wouldn't recommend trying to use Mac OS X on a non Mac system. The OS is designed for optimal performance on the hardware they ship. Using anything it on anything else could give you a rather funky experience.

I disagree - they need the section more than anyone - how will they learn the errors of their ways without it? :D

Spoken like a true Apple freakb... err fanboy. Why are mac users so defensive about their company they support? It truly amazes me. All in all it is only an OS, and i'm sure if it was available for us regular pc users we would also give it a go, well i would. But i doubt apple will ever do that, cause they sell hardware based on what the OS offer.

On the flip side I've often wondered why PC users are often so quick to go on the offensive when it comes to Apple.

Perhaps the blame rests on both parties. :)

Suppose so, you get all these extremists for both sides, i just don't see the point. We all love tech, thats why we are here discussing it, so i expect that we should be able to "understand" it better than to do that. But mostly i know it is all in good fun, and i like to throw some stones in the bush myself for some entertaining discussions ;)
