RJ-45 Double Port Faceplate/Wall Patch Panel

Hey guys,

I am wiring my new home and want to add a network point in every room. I have seen on the web that you can get an electric wall plug with a RJ-45 network point build into the cover. Does anybody know where I can get or order some online?

Then in some rooms there is already a network cable running between them and the study. For them I just need the RJ-45 Faceplate/Wall Patch Panel. Any ideas where to get them from?

I can't find it online but I know I've seen the kind of thing you're looking for: the usual ~12cm square face plate that has 4 sockets into which you can fit RJ45 jacks - or TV/sat connectors too, give 'em a call and check.

bandwidth: wireless is all well and good but when you start shunting around large amounts of data at the same time, say by watching a movie off the server while also playing music somewhere else, wireless - well, wireless-G is quite possibly going to suffer. I can't speak for wireless-N but now you're talking significant change for not a lot more speed, certainly not when you're going up against the gigabit speed cabling can give you - and same applies to those homeplug adapters!
 
RJ45 Faceplates

Clipsal [http://www.clipsal.co.za/home.asp] have mix-and-match series of faceplates, where one can connect several different types of sockets (e.g. RJ45 + TV coax) using a single faceplate. I think it is called the 'S2000 Series'

You choose a faceplate with the requisite number of 'holes' then buy the clip-in modules.

NB: Be warned, there are several different types of each socket. The supplier - the guy behind the counter - normally doesn't have a clue. So best download the catalogue and specify part numbers.
 
Thanx for the replies guys, will give Lightedge and Clipsal a go. I have 2 WRT54GL for the setup, but like bdt said the wireless bandwidth is just not enough. The wireless will work for my wife to access the web and for downloading emails, but won't work that well when copying large files and watching movies.
