Hey guys.. just a question, is it worth buy Registry Mechanics for $29 or what ever or are there just as good programs like this around for free?

Do these programs even work well?

dude my expierce with these programs is that they are a load of rubbish

dont waste your money on this kuk

thats just my personal opinion

i believe you install windows anti virus and good defrag program and nothing more
 
Thanks mate, i think i feel the same why.. When you say a 'good defrag program' do you mean the windows one? Or can you download better ones? Thanks mate
 
Registry Mechanic is good, but not worth $29. If you wanna burn some cash rather buy Acronis TrueImage or something (It serves a different function though).
 
Abexo Free Registry Cleaner :D works for me, just removes old registry keys :D also has a undo function ;) just incase
 
Registry Mechanic 4 is freeware - no need to shell out some dosh

The best thing to do is to backup, format and reinstall - that works the best every time.

I needed a serial for it to be 100% functional. Maybe it was made freeware recently or we are talking about separate products.

The other option is RegClean, by Microsoft. Its free and floating around the net. It's not a full blown reg cleaner, but it catches some stuff that the other cleaners don't.

Another method is to use Ubuntu as a guest OS and run XP in a virtual engine. :)

diskeeper is great - got a noticeable performance improvement after defrag.
 
i use ccleaner, system mechanic 7, paragon total defrag 2007, O&O defrag 10 professional. i highly recommend these.
 
A good defrag program such as Diskeeper makes a big difference. I am running Diskeeper 2008 Pro Premium.
Registry cleaners, have used a few in the past, but can't comment on how good/bad each one is/was.
