My boet was in the UK and got the Nokia 6280 on orange mobile, he returned to SA a few days back and when we instert the vodacom sim card it asks for some sort of code to open the phone does anyone know what the code is.

Orange AFAIK network locks their phones. I have seen websites selling unlock codes online, maybe that's the way to go. If too pricey, ask the Nokia service centre for a quote.
As far as I am aware Nokia are not permitted to unlock handsets, only the providor is permitted to do this. With the BB5 series of phones (includes the 6280) the network holds the tools for generating the unlocking codes.
Some early 6280 can be unlocked via cable but this is not for the faint hearted and is not without risk! I suggest looking for a third-party cellular outlet or contacting Orange UK to pay them for the code! Actually its a con: The code is free you just need to pay an admin fee! Circa 40 GBP if I recall...![]()
