Best web-development language?

Hi there...

Can someone maybe tell me what is the best, easiest, most stable and least expensive language to design website?

PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, CFML...? (I'm using Dreamweaver 8 as the developer tool)

I have tried ColdFusion. It was very nice to work with, but the hosting and licensing fees are too high.

ASP is great, but I struggle to keep a stable testing environment for the databases...?

If someone also now about good books to help building dynamic websites in Dreamweaver, please let me know!!!

Agreed - PHP is the way to go. Free, TONS OF ONLINE information....easy enough to learn, especially if you have a C/C++ or Pascal base...together with MySql you can make really good websites! Pay is also really good - especially internationally.

Dreamweaver...arg! Creates cluttered code...rather stay away from Dreamweaver!

Definitely PHP. Not very difficult to learn, many useful frameworks, and eveything you need to learn it is available for free online.

ETA: agree that you should stay away from Dreamweaver.

Also: install WAMP, to make development easier.
 
I would also definitely say PHP. You would also want to go the Ruby on Rails route, but it'll still be a very long time before the technology goes mainstream.
 
Definately PHP and MySQL ... and if you want a local testing server ... download a program called yellowtip server ... its software that installs apache, MySql, Awstats and some other rubbish like phpNuke and different php Apps .... the great thing though is its all one install file ... not a mission to install like apache is on its own ... all the files are preconfigured to work with each other.
