Anyone know where i can buy this in durban? My psu doesn't have the connection to connect to the graphics card. Its a nvidia 8800gts xxx edition and it never came with the converter
There is a reason why your psu doesn't have that 6 pin pci-e cable so im not sure if it will be able to power such a card im afraid even with that adapter... Oh and 400Watts is just way to less. If its a generic PSU then forget it.If its a brand name PSU like coolermaster etc then u might have a chance.
Remember the watt rating is not the only imporatant factor. The efficiency of the power supply plays an important roles too. What good is a 500 watt power supply that only gives you 60% efficiency at full load. You end up only have the equivelent of a 300 watts, with the rest being wasted heat.
Some of the better power supplies give you 80-85% efficiency which means you get 400-425 watts. Not to mention that the more efficiency power supplies are of higher quality construction, and lead to more stable rails resulting in more stable operation.
