I wonder if anyone can help me with the following:

I've been using an old set of drivers for my 6600GT, the 93.71 Forceware drivers along with Coolbits. This allowed me to override the default refresh rates for various resolutions on my CRT. I use the "Classic" control panel as opposed to the newer one.

However, over the weekend I installed the 169.04 Forceware BETA drivers and I notice there is no "Classic" control panel, nor is there an option to override refresh rates.

The problem I have is that whenever I run a game, if I look at the refresh rate in my monitors OSD, it refresh at 60Hz @ 800x600 and 75Hz @ 1024x768. These are the two resolutions I use.

Using the older drivers, I overrode my refresh rates to 120Hz @ 800x600 and 100Hz @ 1024x768. These are the maximum refresh rates my monitor can handle at those two resolutions. My desktop refresh at 75Hz @ 1280x1024.

Personally, I think a lower refresh rate is visibly poor. You get that "flickering" effect.

Do any of you have this problem? If so, how do you get around it?

Thanks :)

If you go to the Control Panel and Click on "Manage custom resolutions" you should be able to specify what refresh rate you want on specific resolutions. Hope this helps :)

I just came across this: Direct Refresh for Vista.

Apparently, PowerStrip should work too.

Thanks, but I tried that without much success. I added 1024x768@100Hz, but it doesn't seem to save it, I think that is because it is a "standard" resolution/refresh rate. :(
