Suggestion:

Could someone please get the email address for complaints at ICASA and let's just choose a day, let's say next week Friday where every member on MyBroadband sends a complaint against Telkom to ICASA and let's flood there mail server.. While we at it, let's do it once of twice a week till we get some results from them..

I hate them for not doing anything :mad::mad:

Who would be up for it...

Im ampt....maybee some1 could draw up a draft email so all we need to do is copy the email and add our names...That will make is much quicker and easier for every1 to send the complaint and will encourage busy people to also participate

Clever idea if we can get a draft email for people to just put their
Name, Surname, Email and contact details should ICASA need to contact you..

Will have to put a thinking cap on.. Anyone more clued up on legal matters willing to draw up such an email... Plzzzzz feel freee to help...

I'm game and as long as they're all legitimate complaints ICASA can't claim we're wasting their time. :)

Perhaps the mail should address some of the top atrocities? eg:
1: Benchmark reports for LLU
2: Local capping
3: 'Do Broadband' vs their AUP
4: Compulsory analogue line rental on top of ADSL (makes me naar)

I did not mean that we should spam them, but everyone with complaints should send in their complaints on the same day.
If you got no reply let's say a week later then everyone who got no reply send in their emails again, and keep on doing this till they notice us and are forced to do something about it..

I mean all of us have a valid reason to complain.. We pay so much for our bandwidth and now they can tell us what we can and can not do with it..

In Telkom’s Acceptable Use Policy for ADSL Access Service the company warns, amoung other things, against the downloading of large files or large quantities of files and online gaming as it “may result in excessive data transfer”.

Legal stuff we may not do with our bandwidth:

1) Can't use audio or video streaming service
2) Online Gaming
3) The company continues to prohibit running servers.
4) Mail, News Groups and CHAT programs are also not deemed safe.
5) CCTV - monitor your property from a remote location would also be to much strain on their system.
6) Telkom warns that files with the suffix "avi", "jpeg", "mpeg", "gif", and others which are sent to customers can contain very large amounts of data. - So now they are telling us which type of emails we can and cannot receive..

The list goes on...

I'm in, as bwana says its not spam if its legitimate. :) Maybe we shouldn't send it all at once though, maybe we should space it out more so they can't just delete them all as a batch?

Keep a copy of letters you write

So who can draft a template for us?

I'll have a crack at it. Any suggestion posted here will be welcome, but I will start to look at the Electronic Communications Act and some of the areas where our beloved Telkom has risen above the law.

Also, "Telkom's exclusivity rights to SAT3" comes to mind

Edit: beaten too it! Thx Bossman

I will check for some template to work off and then I think we must have like a joint venture in setting up a decent draft for all members to use.
