MTN prpaid on Vodafone Novatel Merlin U740 card

Does anybody know how to use a Vodafone branded Merlin U740 card with MTN Pay As You Go? I have a card which I purchased second hand - works fine with my Vodacom SIM, but I can't get it to work with an MTN PAYG SIM. I tried using the direct dial up connection which is created by the Vodacom dial up software, but receive an "Error 619".
Could somebody please post details on how to get this to work.

Yes, I have purchased airtime & converted it to a data bundle - I assume that is all that needs to be done.
 
Put the SIM in a mobile phone and send *123#, follow the menu prompts to have the WAP settings (not MMS as well) sent to your phone. I think this procedure automatically provisions that SIM for data as well.

Hi,

Trying to do the same here on a Vodafone branded card.

Possible ?
 
I did get mine working - problem was that the MTN prepaid package had to be enabled for data by MTN.

Yup I've got all that working fine, problem is I'm using a branded Vodafone E220, when I try connect it warns me that I must be on the Vodafone network to connect and doesn't allow me to connect.
