Seriously who is supposed to maintain the fiber link between Nelspruit and Sabie if the Waterkloof does't pay for it? And if the whites from Gauteng don't pay then one presumes the ANC will pay for the link right? Because it is totally uneconomical to run a link between Nelsp. and Sabie it has to be subsidized in the same way that everybody subsidises Eskom to give power to places where the only economic activity is breeding babies for the
child support grant.

But if the ANC pays for the link then the whites from waterkloof would obviously want the anc to subsidise their connection as well.

Mods - move thread to an appropriate forum perhaps ?

Wow.. he's dropping more acid than normal..

What was that lil trip in relation to I wonder.

Oh no! Captain WTF is back! :D

Just kidding, dude -- your posts always make me smile.

Stop Telkom bashing? In your dreams...

Tjanking about telkom is exactly what vansie Naspers wants you to do. And who runs telkom , the anc with a 50% + shareholding, so why don't you rather take on the anc instead. But the anc is trying to remedy the situation with infraco. To solve the problem is simple license vast swaths of spectrum for community license free Wimax usage and regulate it but allow anybody to become their own isp with unlimited local loop bandwidth.

The vansies keep on confusing the issues, Icasa holds the keys to wimax and are holding this country hostage, not Telkom.

So Naspers is holding the country hostage ?

No wait, lemme try and make sense of it again.

Naspers wants us to direct the blame at Telkom because the ANC is a majority Shareholder in Telkom. Your solution is for ICASA to licence a whole bunch of peeps to provide connectivity but Naspers is confusing ICASA too much on the issue ?

See http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/NaspersProblem . I want Icasa to be written out of the constitution and a new telecoms regime written that will allow Wimax to be licensed to anybody who applies for a license. Naspers who has 3.5ghz from Icasa don't want this to happen because then you will become an ISP like M-web which belongs to Naspers. Look it is very simple when you are the only baker in town you don't want anybody else to sell bread.

And add a clause that allows you to put Mini-DSLAMS on telephone poles and dig up the road so you can lay more cables

I agree with Captain. Naspers has SA by the balls. M-Web is the most over-priced piece of shyte ISP i've come across, Multichoice (DSTV) control what we watch and practically speaking is no better than any dictator-monopoly that ever existed, iBurst is absolute buuuu-ll-sh-it and everything Naspers in general is ridiculously overpriced. To hell with Naspers! at least telkom puts the hard work in to get this place connected, and face some serious public scrutiny. btw honestly speaking Telkom is coming along pretty well in recent times. So damnit if you hated Telkom, then you should loath Naspers.

Hmmmm, news to me that Naspers owns I-Burst

That's your opinion of course and you're entitles to it. However, you're not forced to subscribe to Mweb are you ? You're not forced to subscribe to DSTV are you ?

You have a choice.

Yet if you want a phone line and DSL you're forced to utilise one provider ? Come on ... dont fall into the captains trap.

I'm pretty sure by that logic you are not forced to get a phone line aswell buddy, you choose to have a DSL line you could easily use a wireless option. Telkom I agree has a monopoly in fixed line communications, but you are not forced to use them as there are wireless options but the point is that Naspers controls a very large part of SA's communication networks:

NASPERS OWNS EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW:

Tiscali Internet
M-Web
Multi-Choice
MTN
Vodacom
MXit
QQ
iBurst

Media24:
-News24
-Fin24
-Property24
-Women24
-Health24
-Wheels24
-24.com
-Food24
-Beeld
-City Press
-Daily Sun
-Die Burger
-Huisgenoot
-Drum
-YOU
-Weg
-Finweek
-Sarie
-Fair Lady
-Woman's Value
-DIT
-True Love Magazine
-My Week
-The Witness
-MediaZone.com
-Gadu Gadu

Johnnic (Media24's only competition is owned in part by the same people...Naspers)

Gawd Damn... this list is longer than I could imagine! And REMEMBER that everyone on this list CONTROLS the PRICE OF YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION and WHAT YOU READ, LISTEN AND WATCH IN THE MEDIA!

So who do you hate now... Telkom which is soon to be owned by Naspers or Nasper the evil giant behind everything you hate about over priced telecommunications and the media in South Africa?
