I need a little help to sort out my Pc's. I am looking at having the Primary pc with the Best components.
Here are the configurations:
PC A: Fujitsu Siemens
Motherboard: Gigabyte- GA-8I945PE
Processor: Intel Pentium D 940 Socket 775 @ 3.2 GHz 16KB L1 Cache & 2x 2048KB L2 cache
Graphics: PCI-E GeForce 6600GT (128mb ram)
Ram: 1x 1024mb Kingston KVR667D2N5 1.8v & 1x 1024mb Samsung PC2-4200U-444-12-E3 (So the speeds should be 667MHZ and 444MHZ respectively)
PSU: 400w
HD: 2 X 500GB @ 7200Rpm
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
PC B: Fujitsu Siemens
Motherboard: MSI- MS-7293
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Socket 775 @ 2.13GHz
Graphics: PCI-E GeForce 7500LE (256mb ram)
Ram: 1x 512mb Samsung PC2-4200U-444-12-D3
PSU: 400w
HD: 1 x 320GB @ 7200Rpm
OS: Windows XP Home
PC A is my Primary PC
I am thinking of Swopping The Processors, Am I right in thinking that a Core 2 Duo is faster than a the Pentium D regardless of the Core speeds.

NB: I also have the following components that are not in use:
Geforce 6500 256mb ram
ATi Radeon x600 pro 256mb ram
A 350w power supply
MSI 915P COMBO (Onboard USB is blown)
An Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz with HT 478 pin socket 478 processor

yup core2duo way faster, you should save up for a better graphics card if you want to play games. 8800 GT will do the trick. Why don't you sell your old PC to raise some cash.
 
Approximately how much could I get for those Components that arent in use. I'll need to put a price in the classifieds.
I am thinking of Buying a new pc. However I'm not sure wheather to Purchase a ready built PC from Makro or Incredible, or to just build my own. I'm looking to Spend +/- 10 000

PostmanPot is right according to gigabytes website "http://www.gigabyte.co.za/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=1905" my motheboard DOES NOT SUPPORT CORE 2 DUO.
So I guess My Pc's will stay the same.

Nope. Wrong answer!

DDR RAM is Double Data Rate (note the double), so if it's 200mhz, it then becomes 400mhz. DDR ram (generally speaking) tops out at 400mhz.

DDR2 RAM improves on DDR, by squeezing doubling the transfer rate again, so it's now 4x. So 200mhz becomes 800mhz. DDR2 RAM (generally speaking again, tops out at 800mhz).

DDR3 RAM increases... Actually, I'm not going to tell you. You'll work it out with time. DDR3 RAM (once more, generally) tops out at 1600mhz.

If you look real close, you'll notice that all of them top out at 200mhz!
 
Sorry, only now did I realise you're referring to the memory clock, not the memory bus speed which is much more comonly used. (for example CPU-Z reports my DDR2-800's frequency as 400Mhz)

And in this case, it's (imo) unlikely that zakdoc is talking bout the memory clock, since that would mean he has DDR2-1066 memory (which isn't even yet a JEDEC standard) in a machine that's relatively old... I might be mistaken, but it just seems much more likely that it's DDR2-533.
 
Sorry for starting a debate, I hadn't checked My RAM sticks, The Ram stick in PC B is: Samsung 512MB 1rx8 PC@- 4200U-444-12-D3 I suppose that's 444MHZ then... Hope its fine to edit that in my first post.

It's unlikely that the '444' stands for 444Mhz (since you don't get DDR(2)-444). The '4200' in the code probably stands for 4200MB/s, which translates to DDR2-533, in which case the bus frequency would be 266Mhz, as you stated before. ;)

Erm DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 are all x2, therefore DDR2-800 runs at 400Mhz x2

Clock speed is increased by increasing CAS latency and a few other techniques. Average CAS latency for DDR is 3 and DDR2 is 5 and I think DDR3 is around 8 (Don't quote that number ;) )

What you are referring to is QDR (Quad Data Rate) and is not currently viable.

The ram is 533Mhz as stated above, with the SPD timing of CAS: 4 clocks ,RAS to CAS: 4 clocks ,RAS Precharge: 4 Clocks and Cycle Time: 12 clocks, that's what the 444-12 are, the timings.
