World Bank pushes ahead with Eassy

Neotel is proclaiming that the Seacom cable project is the only cable that is going to be ready in time for the 2010 Soccer World Cub. It's going to be interesting to see how a construction project owned by multiple dysfunctional governments pans out.

Well atleast they going ahead and doing it without our permission. Gives those ladies, that mess South Africa's telecoms up, a chance to realise that more cables are better than 1. Besides if the cable is expensive then everyone can use Seacom until Eassy goes bankrupt or brings their prices down. Funny how competition does all the work for you :)
 
Now that both SEACOM and EASSy are supposedly going to be ready for the 2010 WC [remains to be seen], I have to wonder if the first leg of the NEPAD cable system will slack off and potentially not be ready in time for 2010 - luckily governments aren't doing the actual laying of the NEPAD cable, otherwise the NEPAD cable might only be ready in 2050 if Poison Ivy's sub-snail's pace is anything to go by.
 
They are both being completed 2009 "african time" so due to this major distortion in time-space which creates "african time", it'll be done in 2012 wrt the rest of the world, incl. all the soccer players that need to travel to SA in 2010. Therefore, no cables for Fifa WC. I hope our gov has a nice excuse for that one!
 
Still the public has no say....

The only reason we get that cable is because of the soccer WC 2010.

If the WC didn't happen we would still be left in the stone age and ruled by evil empire called Telkom.

I wonder what speed they have and high cap.... it might be high cost but whats the service levels like?

Unless investors in the EASSy & SEACOM cables stall in paying the company contracted to lay the submarine cable, which is not going to be an African company since very few companies specialise in laying submarine cables and have the special boats for the job, I think both these cables will be a reality before 2010.

As for the NEPAD cable, well governments are involved in that one, so I have my doubts there.

I think it's satellite bandwidth being referred to there.

Yeah maybe they'll surprise us by actually accomplishing something on time...as in, before 2010/Armageddon
 
Was actually looking into satellite internet from outside this country.the initial layout is a bit much but cost there after much cheaper that local stuff
