8800GTS 512MB (G92) Review

Damn you EHV! I was just about to post it! LOL! Aaaaaggghhh...
 
Id rather buy the new 8800GT Gigabyte Rectron 2999.00

btw hows urs running , WKJ:beanie?
 
The only thing to really consider with this card is that it is likely to OC very well and has a beefy cooler on it. So the superclocked cards might yet be worth it.

Wow its amazing how companies push up the price from the recommended R2500

Its disgusting!

I bought an ASUS 8800GT with a free game, the new COH for R2500!

Actually recommended is more like R1750 LOL:D But we live in SA so R2500 is prob our recommended price:p

Erm no, you guys are way off the mark. All the distributors and I do mean all of them locally charge more than MSRP, how is that good pricing? How is a local RRP for an 8800Ultra at R9K good pricing? The only thing we get fair pricing on is Hard Drives.
 
actually an ultra is under 6k now shock

if i remember it was selling for nearly 600 dolla

well shock if think how small our population and how little suppliers bring in, it makes sense to me

yes sure places like newegg sell their stuff cheap but they have an audience of what 200 million?

its just like anything in life, the more you buy the cheaper it becomes

personally i think our pricing is pretty good if you buy direct which a large portion of ppl do

so shock the laptops in this country overpriced? i think not

motherboards over priced? again i dont think so

memory over priced? nope

monitors over priced? i think not

i'll give you high end vga cards but nothing else

The MSRP is suppose to be the maximum a card should cost while here we are paying way over the that. And it's not just places like Newegg who sells stuff cheap importing with services like myus.com also comes out cheapper than get gfx cards locally. The suppliers/retailers are here are definitely charging a premium for the high end gfx cards.

And it's hardly just the gfx take a look at high end motherboard prices. Asus maximus extreme Newegg price R2311 when converted to Rands while local retail price R4000.

I can go and do searching on many other items and find similar differences. Yes our market is smaller but then we expect to pay a slight difference not these R1000 differences.

And since when can a great portion of people buy directly from the suppliers?? Unless you work in I.T. or your company has an contract with the supplier or you yourself sells hardware or you know a friend you can't buy direct. I can't buy direct from the supplier.
