Value Line Acer 22" Wide LCD any good?

Anyone have any experience with this acer:

Its pretty cheap so I am very keen on getting it. It should be a nice upgrade from my 17" Packard Bell LCD.

Is there any reason why I should not buy it?

Lovely, wanted to get one but it seems like DP is not selling it anymore.

The product is still on the home page but it redirects to https://www.digitalplanet.co.za/shop/no_product.asp? when clicked. So much for that

Not bad, although you can get a samsung for that price.

lol, neither do I.

Oh wait.. actually I could get sahara stuff, my bad. :p But I don't usually buy from dealers.

Had mine for a while now - got it from DP when they were selling for about R3000.

I have about 8 randomly scattered dead pixels.

As with everything, you pay for quality. This is a pretty cheap monitor, so you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have decided to save up for something better. My puny 17" Packard Bell will have to be good enough for a while.

Even though the Acer may be cheap its not worth the risk of getting one with a bunch of dead pixels, or even a singe dead pixel for that matter.

Just FYI - this app may help with the wonky pixels:

http://www.jscreenfix.com/

It does a pretty good job at fixing the image persistance on my LCD.

I don't think what I have are dead pixels, as the number and location changes. They are the type that are rainbow coloured, not black and dead.

From everything I've heard, the Samsung's are the way to go.

I used my TV as a monitor for a while. Now I have massive pupils :(
