Vodafone eyes full control at Vodacom

British mobile phone giant Vodafone said on Thursday it was interested in winning full control at South African unit Vodacom.

Vodafone has repeatedly declared its interest in raising its stake in Vodacom, which is a 50-50 joint venture operated with Telkom of South Africa.

Am I right in saying that Vodafone are constrained in how much of Vodacom they can own and this is why they want to change their links to Telkom?
 
Will the Vodacom name change? Its the 2nd best brand in the country.
 
I believe a dominant Vodafone will be bad for the country. I've seen how they behave in Europe and it wasn't pretty.

Expect ALL your phones and data cards to be locked in to their network as it is in the UK and where permitted in the rest of Europe.
 
Sister in law says that they're the most expensive service provider in the UK.
