Geforce 9 series to be launched February

Nvidia is ready for its next-generation GPU launch. According to sources at graphics card makers, the company plans to launch its GeForce 9 series GPU after the Lunar New Year in February.

The first chip to rollout of in GeForce 9 family will be the D9E, a high-end product that adopts 65nm manufacturing. The new product will also support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, revealed the sources.

In addition to the D9E, Nvidia will roll out a mid-range GeForce 9 family product named D9P in June 2008. The new GPU will adopt 55nm processing, the sources pointed out.

Seems March/April will be when I will be doing my gfx upgrade just hope we get ok pricing and not R7000 else it's going to be expensive. Now to start saving for that new monster card.:D
 
I was thinking about buying a gt but the fact that it doesn't have dx10.1 put me off. Also crysis running ok on medium made me decide it would be better wait for the new high end cards thankfully they aren't too far away.

The 8800 gts has done very well for a year now so I reckon an upgrade is needed.

The DirectX 10.1 didn't affect my buying decision at all, I personally don't see myself using it any time soon... And Crysis runs OK on Very High settings on my PC :)
 
are they calling these cards the 9xxx (eg 9800) or D9E/D9P's coz I bet you if they call them the 9xxx's amd are gonna have fun ripping nvidia off

If that happens people will just buy the 8800 gt instead of the 9 series cards.

Yeah, quite definitively except AFAIK the 9 Series will be more efficient, requiring less juice to do the same/more. Hopefully the requirements of 600W+ PSUs will go away for SLi in the future :)
 
How exactly do you figure that? :O
BTW GeForceFX5800 was faster than any GeForce4 so... marketing scheme? :o don't get it
 
Just hope my psu will be able to handle these new cards else I will need an expensive upgrade.

Crysis runs really well on high at 1400x900 on my PC. Direct X 10.1 is nonsense, I mean there are hardly any games out for Direct X 10 to justify making Direct X 10.1 a buying decsion
