Tell me the 1TB guy isnt impacting my service and I'll be pleased as punch for him. Otherwise, I hope they do something about it.

lol I am uncapped 64k and I can get about 10-15GB's a month If I am not using the net for gaming/browing/music I am downloading almost 9 hours a day! :D

But 1TB ROFL!

They did remedy the issue :D Was a really interesting presentation by Alan from IS. Hope to get the audio soon…

i find the averages more interesting: 20GB per month. that's the target to which telkom should up that meagre 3GB limit to... ;)

Would anyone in the rest of the developed broadband world be as shocked as we are here in SA about 1TB of data transferred using an uncapped service?
Maybe not shocked, but I know many guys in the UK received warnings for exceeding 100 GB per month… I think this guy will be able to do special things with a 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps connection :D

This would most likely have occured a few months back when IS was not capping their local only accounts. I bought a 30gig local only account and was able to consistently get more than double that before the end of the month.

If I'm not mistaken I know the guy(or someone who by doing the same thing has come close to the 1TB mark in the past). The twit in question was using a number of proxies to overcome the 5 connection limit on the newserver and hence download at full speed consistently throughout the month.

I'm also convinced that the recent issues with the IS newserver being overtaxed are at least partially his and other's fault.

It's sad that some people abuse things at the cost of others, but then again if we had a decent broadband infrastructure and reasonable pricing this wouldn't be such an issue.

That's no individual... that's prolly a share block, hotel or other campus who use an uncapped account... simple.
I assume it's OK legally to own a share block and give everyone access via cable to your router...

Only a small portion of their uncapped service subscriber base – typically under 10% - exceeds the 50 GB monthly usage limit.

I have an uncapped 512k IS line, and this is the first I have heard of this "limit". It is not applied AFAIK. Does anyone know anything more about this "limit"?

he can't be impacting your service...he paid for uncapped and is using it as advertised...Blame IS if you don't agree

Give me 10GB a month and I'm more than happy. That guy (or collection of people) used 334x more than the cap I have...
