19inch monitor won't wake from sleep (MBook)

OK, I have attached my 19inch LCD to the Macbook via the Apple VGA adaptor and while Leopard detects it, it won't display on it - the display says no signal and goes to sleep - Running an 17inch LCD with the DVI adaptor works fine - is there something I can do like resetting the PRAM?? Read about this somewhere but don't know if its safe to do.
 
Thanks - will try resetting - the FN +F7 does not seem to work.
 
...Nuts - won't work, had to use a digital cable with the DVI adaptor...!!
