Dear Hendrik ([email protected])

IN SHORT BEFORE YOU READ FURTHER;

After six months of deliberation, sending emails confirming account closures AND paying settlement amounts; Virgin Mobile incompetently without authorisation deducted money from my Credit Card; After escalating this to Mr Hendrik van Aswegen their accounts department manager, I got a response back in which we agreed that I will supply him with all my communications that i've had with VM over the past 6 months; I sent the information with them; along with the following letter -

Email dated 5 December 2007 sent to Hendrik van Aswegen

Thank you for hearing me out and exerting yourself to resolve my complaint – this however does not make-up for the amount of incompetence that I have had to face when communicating with Virgin Mobile in South Africa.

In our conversation I explained to you my frustration having found that after much deliberation Virgin Mobile out of the blue without any type of authorisation withdrew money from my Credit Card – this is considered Theft and Fraud, the last time I checked.

I wish I had the time to go to the police to lay down a charge of theft; however within reason realising that there might still be some competence left in Virgin Mobile; I expect them to set this right.

When I mention set this right; I do not mean to say; give me back the money they took; as a South African consumer I expect Virgin Mobile to explain to me why – out of the blue – they debited my account i.e. and investigation should be launched an a report on what exactly happened should be published publically explaining to other South African Consumers why Virgin Mobile went as far as stealing money from their customers through their incompetence.

That report should also reflect was corrective action they intend on taking to ensure that this does not happen again.

I believe that it is time that the South African consumer should raise his/her voice against the horrific levels of customer service that companies are getting away with.

This thread will happily await their Feedback and it is preferred that Virgin Mobile communicate through this thread, not resorting to any PRIVATE emails any longer; because I believe that this is now a PUBLIC issue!!!!!

VM said sorry; this however is not enoug --- what preventative measures will they put into place to avoid stealing from other customers. I responded with the following on HelloPeter
Dear Samantha WOW Team @VMSA

VM Responds with "Hello zabzoo We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused", however stealing from SA Consumers is unacceptable; they had no grounds to deduct those funds from my account - from how many other SA consumers did you steal this month who do not check what was deducted from their accounts - A SIMPLE APOLOGY WILL ---NOT DO---- What does Virgin Mobile intend on doing avoid this happening to other customers, in other words; Are there any preventative measures in place, because VM does not have the competence to deal with SA CONSUMERS' FUNDS. Virgin Mobile; you guys have some explaining to do, because simply saying sorry will not do.

vm pathetic

I agree with you 100%!!!!!!!!!!! virgin mobile is the WORST network
we have here. They preach that other networks rip us off, when in
fact THEY are the ones ripping us off. We as consumers shouldnt
allow then\m to get away with this. We should start a petition and
get consumers to vote that they have there license revoked in our
country.

Hi Zabzoo,

As per my investigations, you were contacted this morning and you requested that your contract with Virgin be cnancelled and all that is due to you has been sorted. I however regret that our relationship with you had to end on such a bad note.

unfortunately for Sir Richard Branson his brand here has been raped by the incompetence

How do you cancel a brand new v100 postpay contract? The grounds for cancellation are false advertising and the refusal/non-existence of a service and registration of software advertised on my phone's box as part of the VM contract bundle. I expect that, as the advertised terms are not being upheld by VM, I should no longer have to adhere to the contract either.
