i got a logitech g5 mouse and would really like a mousepad as i am kinda destroying the surface of my desk here. any suggestions?

(the reason i'm asking this silly question is because i am under the impression that an optical and/or laser mouse needs a surface with a lot of variation to accurately follow movement?)

I always thought that a good laser mouse could use virtually any surface - I've even used my mouse on a glass table top.
 
cool bananas. was worried about the possibility of being stuck with having to buy a my little pony or carebears mousepad.

I havent looked at the above link tho im guessing its going to be what i suggest. A pro pad, its this massive black mouse pad, and its awesome cos u never run out of space to move ure mouse on. Its even bigger than A4!!! But its pricey for a mousepad :P
 
I got my brother a gaming mouse pad. It says it is optimised for first person shooters. so maybe it does make a bit of a difference to the hectic gamer.

I have to have a mouse pad. If I use a tabletop or flat shiny surface my hands get all sweaty, which get onto the mouse, which attracts dust, which makes my mouse manky looking. Not too mention the fact that it gets under the teflon pads which just drops performance.

I love my Extreme Pad. I actually have two, one for home and one for work. And when they get dirty, you just give them a good scrub and toss them in the washing machine.

Oh, and the material they use for the pad works perfectly with the teflon pads they use on Logitech mouses. :)

I have a mousepad that I bought in Ireland at a tourist shop. Its very nice and looks very pretty :).
 
Try a ceramic, granite textured tile from CTM.

PC format had a review of mouse pads a year or so ago and the tile, costing a fraction of a normal pad, outscored the others by a mile.
 
I've got the Razer Mantis mouse pad. IMO really a waste of tom. The mouse does not feel any different to any cheap pad. I have yet to find a mouse pad that makes my G5 glide as it shud ...
 
Of course one needs a mousepad:confused:. The only reason I see why one would not want one is if its a public place and the pads get stolen (uni/school).

I'd definitely suggest a pad that has a cloth-like feel to it, not those plastic like things. That way the plastic bits on which the mouse travels never get dirty because the dirty goes into the pad. My dad had one for like 3 years. Still glides smoothly, but its starting to look like a health hazard (Christmas present idea! w00t).

Incredible Corruption (Menlyn) sells decent sized blue pads like that for R25 or so. Nice feel and one of the best R25 I've spent so far. Do avoid the dodgy plastic things they have at the counter though. The nice ones are hidden at the back somewhere.
 
Yeah, but he bought a G5...

No point in having/being a top foot-model if you don't wear shoes to protect your feet when the going gets tough..

Having a mouse pad will keep your foot-pads of your mouse attached to your mouse for longer (although a G5 does have rather large and stable pads..)
 
Any1 can recommend a decent online store that sells the extremepad for a decent price?
