Are they any good? Can anyone recommend one? I've been looking at a Point of View nVidia GeForce 8800GT - 512MB - PCI-E (this:
http://www.take2.co.za/product.php?id=3122068)

Also, am I correct in say that they are official Nvidia cards? (ie. not a brand like Gigabye, Sapphire, Chaintech, Asus etc.) The boxes look like it comes straight out of Nvidia's factory.

Thanks

I did some research after seeing the very same Take 2 listing and it appears that overseas Point of View (POV) cards are quite highly rated and so is its Dutch manufacturer. I would buy one if I wasn't too curious about the new 9 series cards being released in February.

Almost every review lately that I've read about NVidia cards, mention that you shouldn't worry about who manufactures the card as they are manufacture under strict guidelines from NVidia. The only difference between the standard versions of the each card is what the guarantee/warranty is that the manufacturer gives and what is bundled with it. The overclocked versions are another issue altogether.

They are a brand just like Gigabye, Sapphire, Chaintech, Asus etc. No ones box comes straight out of the factory, while everyones cards do.

Only OC cards or cards with obvious modifications (silent cooling etc) are really any different.

Like all the rest! nVdia makes the chips and POV just makes the PCB along with everything els! have not heard bad things about it... so I say... give it a try! :D

LOL...Dont worry all:D Will get my SSC EVGA 8800GT next week sometime, and will post a "my new monster rig" thread in early jan:D

Eish, get that upgrade.

(Hmm my 8800GT is making whining noises. :/)

What brand? Asus in my experience have the worst fans, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Asus :D

You should probably clean/replace the fan. Recently I tried cleaning out a fan that made whining noises and after oiling it, it worked for about a month after which the bearing seized, quite funny actually, it becomes very hot and spins at very low rpm while making A LOT of noise...
