Are there any local sites from where I can download the Lord of the Rings Online installation file? Thanks :)

Nope haven't managed to find anything yet :( Apparently buying it is worth the risk lol...but I really want to try the trial first and a 4.7GB small client download isn't sounding very pretty. I'll let you know if I do come across anything.

If you guys are in Pretoria I could make a copy of the installs and patches LOTRO_Updater_0.0_1.02 and LOTRO_Updater_0.0_1.04 .. PM me.

Sadly not but someone else in Pretoria offered to courier it to me here in Cape Town for R40 lol. I may just do that.

Me again :P I've emailed the webmaster for saix's local game ftp site and they emailed back asking for a link to the client so hopefully we'll see it up there for download in all its glory :P

Yeah, would be great if saix could carry the client and patches.

Well I emailed them asking them to host the trial client from the lotro website, but they answered saying that the "client" on the website is only a 724Kb downloader or something along those lines. So I emailed back asking them if they could at least host this http://www.gamershell.com/download_20063.shtml then but no reply...I typed out a nice email for the IS local ftp admin person but their email address doesn't exist anymore :( So right now I have no clue what to do.

cool :) thanks ... so that includes all the books?

That's the latest "complete" client that we could find for download so I'm hoping it includes them :D All the other clients are downloaders so it was this or nothing...hopefully this is quite something though :p

Thanks for all the effort.. It says version 1.5 is out, how far behind does that take us with this client? Is it possible to be so rude as to ask to get all the standalone updates for this package as well? The cost of bandwidth is just too high. If anyone out there could help us, I just want to be a hobbit.. thats all.

Guys, could I suggest something.

Get a group together, swop e-mails, setup a blog on a local site and whenever a update comes out, mention it, etc and keep each other updated on when the client updates come out, if one person can get updates, then share it with others, great!

Take turns on doing downloads and sharing, grow the community!

I used to do that long ago with America's Army, we'd (30± of us) only download the full client, not the updates and then we'd meet up and share it, if someone wasn't in CPT, we'd send it to them via post, normal post, costs what, not even R10 and takes 2/3 days, (R40 is overnight with tracking) better than killing your cap etc.

Really builds a community etc.

Also, remember, ftp.uunet.co.za (local) you can upload stuff to it for free as well, use it.

Just a thought, use it, don't use it.

With that great plan in mind, is there anyone out there that can help us patch the client we have currently downloaded to current? Anyone who can upload to the ftp?

Not playing LOTRO currently and don't even have it installed but I got uncapped and can download the standalone patches and then up to FTP. Busy grabbing book 11 (1.2Gb).

104 which I already got seems to be book 10 (486Mb)
and 102 book 9 (594Mb)

btw.. for those using ofline patching, it might seem like it is patching afterwards but the client is just checking the files.
""" Once Book 11 goes live, the following step will apply:
6b. Once the files have been verified by the Launcher (around 3700 - 4000 files, which takes on average around 30 minutes) you will
be presented with the login screen and then you will be able to enter your ID and password and log into the game. """

Wicked thanks alot :D Are you going to upload them to uunet?

P.S. Is there a South African LOTRO guild by any chance? Would be great if we could create one if there isn't currently one.

whats the costs to play this game online anyways?
I'm curious now - however, no matter how curious I get, I'll never PAY to play a online MMORPG, I've got friends who swear they'll kill me if I start, it sucks your life and I'm struggling with mine as it is already! haha.
