Im looking for a decent video camera with a onboard hdd. What would you guys recommend? Decent picture quality is a must, not talking about hd, just nice picture quality.
 
if you want a HD decent one, then you gonna have to pay. if you want a tape-based model, that's still cheap, but the HDD one's are gonna cost you.

no problem. also keep in mind that you're gonna need some real software. look no further than pinnacle studio 11. that's the sh1te. i kept thinking "what's the big deal with pinnacle?" cos everyone kept talking about it, but trust me, when it comes to capturing video and editing etc, that's the best. there are many others, but i prefer pinnacle. the quality that it puts out is amazing. it's the preferred software by many.
 
My cousin just bought a Sony miniDV with 30GB HDD for R7000.00 I think

lol it can't be minidv HDD. minidv is tape and HDD is hard drive. maybe you mean HD (high definition) ?

i've got a panasonic 30gb model. quality is ok. didn't wanna spend R10 grand on a camera so i took something cheap. didn't wanna take a tape either cos it takes too long to transfer to pc. with a minidv(tape), it's basically live streaming when you transfer to pc. so if you have 30 mins of footage, it takes 30 mins to transfer to pc.
