New mobo + CPU, same RAM

Not a good OC'ing mobo. I'd say no to very slight / minimal improvement. The 9250 is unfortunately your biggest obstacle. Wait.. so is that CPU.. sorry.

HAHAHAHHA, you call a 2.8 overclock on a 1.6 native chip a slight overclock? You are sorely mistaken there.With that board you will most likely bump into alot of resistance before getting a 2.8 overclock.
I know this CPU is a huge jump in performance, but will performance in games (with my 9250) improve? I currently can't properly play Hitman Blood Money at even the lowest settings, so will this mobo and CPU increase framerates drastically?

You might have some compatiliby problems as I see you have not mentioned new RAM anywhere and if you were running a celeron 2.4 then im assuming you were running on DDR-400, now while the board you have mentioned support DDR-400 and DDR2 RAM its not going to be fantastic.

You will notice a small difference in frame rates on games, the CPU does obviously play some part in that, but the biggest part will be GPU related, and seeing as how you dont want to hear it means you probably know that to be the case :D
 
You won't see a big difference because your graphics card will be the bottleneck (note: I did not tell you to upgrade your graphics card :D) but there should be a slight performance increase :)

It has two DDR400 RAM slots, and two DDR(2)800 RAM slots, thus allowing me to also keep my current RAM, and upgrade in a month or two.

My Celeron, however, is Socket 478, whereas the mobo is 775, so that's why I'm buying the new CPU first... Cus I have to...

I know this isn't the best C board, but it's the only one that allows me to upgrade more gradually, and apart from OCing, it apparenly has pretty good preformance. (LegitReviews.com)

ANd just out of interest, I think this is the only chipset with this capability..

Thats a weird board, never heard of AGP and PCI-e but cool if it does.
The CPU will be a substantial difference from your old one but wont really improve games.(unless you get a new card, which im not telling you to do... more of a subtle suggestion :) )

Even if its a super useless board then you should be able to easily get 2-2.2GHZ overclock on it.

Either way its going to be alot better than your old 2.4 Celeron.
 
If you are planning to upgrade in a month or two, rather wait till then and do the whole lot.
 
Yep, wait and do the lot. You're shooting yourself in the foot otherwise.

I see what you mean, but if it's games you're looking to improve, I just don't think the mobo and cpu will give you the boost you're looking for, then you'll be stuck with a mobo that doesn't OC well, and a chip that's just begging to get up to at least 2.5GHz+.
Parents? Halvies?
