VGA monitor repairs

Most TV repair shops can fix them, depending what the problem is of course ;)
 
They're normally pretty easy to fix depending on the problem - I've fixed a few. But the big problem is getting spare parts. I've had to chuck away 3 x 19" Cornerstones. All had the FT blown and they're impossible to get spares for :(

What's the problem with it?
 
If you don't know how to discharge the tube or what you are doing it can be somewhat painful. I wouldnt reccommend the layman try and fix something like this. If you do just keep away from the tube and be careful of any caps in the power supply on the board.
If you lucky its just a transistor or some other component.
 
Yeah - I wouldn't fiddle with any TVs/Monitors if you don't know what your doing. Even if its been off for days the the residual charge in the tube can still be around 40 000V
It'll give you a nice whack across the room!!

I don't have anything useful to add to this thread, but I just want to say ... if I ever go mountain climbing and I need to take ropes and crappling hooks, I'd connect a VGA and a parallel plug at the end of my ropes. Those things crab and hook on to anything and everything. It's the most annoying thing ever. :mad:
