Looking for a good media converter/encoder? Look no further! Brilliant for Xvid/Divx

Thanx antowan , this is great, just what I've been searching for a while now.
 
Yeah... been using it for a year, it's annoying now that it keeps linking to the Mediacoder site, still good though.
 
Of all the stuff I've used, nothing beats AllToAvi when it comes to both speed and quality.
I used Super© for a long time but this kicked it's ass.
 
What kind of time can one expect for ripping a std ~2hr DVD (just the main movie) to Xvid/Dvix for archiving/re-watching (my kids are pretty hard on physical disks)?

I've been using FairUse Wizard 2 to create pretty decent quality files of 700MB per disk which takes about 2.5 -3 hrs on a 1.66 Centrino Duo laptop.
 
Please guys help me out, been using Mediacoder for a couple of months and its frustrating cause it always freezes during operations. The only thing I've successfully transcoded was from DVD to mp4...Creating .avi files seems impossible.
BTW, I'm using XP Home, Pentium 4 HT.

I've found that not all the codecs in mediacoder are the latest versions. Mediacoder as a front end is great, but I use K-lite codec pack as well.

I can't give any advice on your particular issue without more info:
1. What is the source file?
2. What do you want to transcode to? (divx/xvid, H.264/x264, windows media etc)
3. What container is required by your hardware? avi, Mpeg, matroska, divx?
 
I transcode into mp4 first using nero and then to xvid with avi encapsulation using MediaCoder. The website check has an option to disable it right there on the page. :)

Nero lets me choose the soundtrack and subtitle options.
