Should I play Baldur's Gate? What do you think of BG?

I've had BG1 & 2 lying around for ages now. Only played BG2 for about 15 minutes. IIRC it was at the time I was playing Icewind Dale 2, in which I got quite far - so that's probably why I gave up on BG2.

Do you think I should go back a bit in time and start with BG1, then move onto BG2?

I'm quite amped :)

What do you think of the game(s)?
 
Definitely two of the best RPG's i've ever played. I'd rank them higher than Icewind Dale 1 and 2 as well. Both BG's imo had better storylines than IWD. Additionally, one major thing i found lacking in IWD was the character development. Whereas in IWD you created a party of toons, in BG your party members each had their own game-driven personality and supported agendas, which for me personally made the game a lot more interesting and involving.
 
I also play a lot of old games, and seen reviews which say that Baldur's gate & Fallout are teh good...Best rpg's ever
 
I loved fallout 1 & 2, I tried to play BG & BG2, didn't like those.

Try fallout 1 & 2 after you've played BG & BG2... just look past the graphics :)
it's a blast!
 
I would go strait to BG2 which imo was the better of the 2 with the only real gripe I had against it was that I capped my max lv 2 chapters before the end which was a big downer.

Played about 2 hours of BG. It's alright so far... Graphics are a bit cr@p.

I also have Planescape Torment here. Looked pretty heavy when I watched my friend playing it. Maybe I'll give it a go :)
 
Bg1 and BG 2 along with Planescape Torment are my top 3 games of all time. If you haven't played BG you must it's one of those games that if you love rpg you just have to.

I hope when fallout 3 gets released they will release a collection of the other fallouts it's only great rpg's missing from my collection and I really would like to give fallout a try.

I bought the complete Fallout collection about a year ago from CNA (including tactics) for R180. Im sure if you look around you will find it floating around.
 
The baldurs gate games are absolutely brilliant. Them along with the first neverwinter nights cannot be topped as games with the D&D style of gameplay.
 
Great games (payed both), doe you will need time and time for those :)

Prepare yourself first, cause you are going to miss one small part of your life (but it is worth it) :)
