Well, I've still got @lantic ( i didnt forget about you in my Zuma song time ) on my signature suck list since end of 2005. Now its time to add Comstar (or as they are known on their url, ComstarSA), they are a hardware wholesaler/supplier.

I gave a 5 month old motherboard (Biostar TForce 6100-AM2) in for a warranty repair (the network card went faulty, and it sat in a low profile case, so wasnt gonna spend for low profile network card) on 26th November. I went there on Wednesday the 12th since I was in that area that day for work and they said they didnt have stock for swopout, but they would be getting it that Friday, and would phone me. So I phoned on 20th and when I enquired about my motherboard they said it still wasnt ready, so now im pretty gatvol after nearly 4 weeks of waiting and demand my motherboard NOW. They tell me they shipping it overnight from stock they have in Durban.

So come Friday the 21st, I sent my brother, they had him wait from 10:30 till 12:30 because the courier hadnt arrived yet and kept telling him different stories about when they are closing that day and how long it wil ltake for couriers to get there. So he leaves and I have to cut the end of year dinner I had started attending at 12 short at 1PM and drive to midrand, when i got there it turn out the courier had never brought this supposed stock along.

They gave me a newer TForce 7025 something or other after offering me cash refund that I refused, I didnt want one cause then I'd have to drive to another supplier on 21st December and get a motherboard. Now I forgot and they did too, that this motherboard has a different IO panel, and thus today when I want to put that encoding PC of mine back together I realise that. They should just have given me the whole motherboard box, not just the motherboard, now I have to go back who knows when when they open and get the backplate.

I wasnt gonna tell this story of bad service here, but now that the backplate issue has come up, I've decided this is the final straw, i dont want anything to do with those amateurs again (he tried to use that i was near xmas time as an excuse ). I like my Biostar boards (they overclock nicely, much better than I could do with my Asus's) but if that means I have to deal with this supplier, I'd rather give it a miss.

ARG!!!! Now i have to reinstall my Windows cause theres 3 Biostar apps (the most useful one which controlled the fans and kept my PC real quiet) from the previous motherboard that shuts my PC down when I want to run them. I cant uninstall them, they give me a kernel error of some kind. Comstar is just messing with my time. I'm considering registering a domain and making a one of those bashing websites. It would cost me less than its costing me in time and money and stress as it is. Maybe the lost customers I cause them will teach them to hold some stock for warranties.

Bit late now but NEVER, I repeat, NEVER EVER, take a motherboard NOT supplied in a box, unless they swop it out for EXACTLY the same motherboard, if they can't source the original they MUST give you a BRAND SPANKING new motherboard, else your getting someone else's repaired or returned motherboard.

I alway return motherboard with all the original packaging and expect a new motherboard or my original returned in working condition the same way I returned it (IE with everything supplied). If a computer device was DOA I alway expect a brand new sealed package. I'm a bit of a tough customer you can say :D but I expect what I payed for.

In the past I sold PCs, i cant keep every box just for each little warranty. But you are correct, when i go back I am gonna insist on the whole box. They had it in the sealed box, then took it out and gave it to me, i was already so de moer in i just wanted to get out of there.

I know how you feel, I build PC's for friends/family regularly but I usually just give them the boxes to deal with, but even with my own computers it becomes hard to keep them so I usually fold all the boxes up and put them all together in one box.

Anyway I feel your pain, had problems with this place called PC Palace in Centurion, worst PC resellers I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with!

Why on earth would they want to keep the box anyway?
