Incredible corruption - 4gig ipod holds 1500 songs says salesman.

So it is my in-law went pre-christmas shopping for a 8 gig nano. She went to many stores, most didnt have any. One store in particular (tyger valley - incredible corruption) had 4gig nanos. Salesperson said it hold 1500 songs. They tried to push the 4 gig, cause they didnt have any 8gig ones. Anyway, in-law didnt buy the 4 gig, she found 8 gig at musica.

I just looked on my Itunes of which i've got 1450 [email protected] gigs. Mine are all at 128kpbs. So i got nearly the 1500 approx at double storage of what incredible corruption (IC) sales dude said the 4gig ipod holds.

So, what gives here, either IC are bull****ttiing, Apple directs sales people to pitch that 1500 songs fits on the 4gig nano, or maybe i'm missing something.

To fit 1500 into 4 gigs, what would be the bit rate. Cause 128 is the minimum you can really go or else you might as well pull out the tape deck.

What gives guys? Where is the bullshiitt?
 
I have a 8 gig nano and it supposed to fit 2000 songs (i think, i just put whatever i want and it never fills up :/ (yes, i only want a few songs :p)

Edit: So that would mean a 4 gig *should* hold 1000 songs, not 1500, so IC is wrong, if I am correct xD
 
What format are you using? the reason I ask is apple claims 1000 songs at 128 Kbps but its in AAC which gives more bang for the buck.

1500 is Incredibly Corruption BS.
 
Ya, i got mine at mp3.

DOes a AAC @ 128 end up being a smaller file than mp3 at same Kbps.
 
I've been told by a Game sales agent a couple of years that the difference between and Intel P3 an Cyrix M3 chip is only the name as they are both made by Sony.

I've been told that because of the rough conditions in India, a Tata is one of the best built cars in the world - something those "Japs" need to take note of.

I've been told that some new Sony-Ericsson cell-phone has Carl-Zeiss optics equivalent to the lenses used on professional SLR cameras.

Some people will believe anything from a salesman flapping jaw.
 
well according to my calculations, i dont care cos i can hold 40000.

I can tell you that its probably the sales person at "Incredibly Cr@p" trying to get a christmas bonus by screwing your inlaw through the ears. You would have to downgrade the songs to 62bit, which sounds like a pregnant lady giving birth to a square baby over a walkie talkie with no antenna.
I'm glad she didn't listen to him/her and i would advise you to advise her to go kick him/her in the left nut.

1500 @ 4 gigs works out to 2.7meg per song which is not realistic, but compared to Telkoms 1 meg songs (Do broadband ads) it is a fairly harmless claim.

Could have been some new Samsung or LG too - there is an tv-ad that blasphemously uses Carl-Zeiss' name.

Perhaps Carl-Zeiss are a bit stripped for cash...?

No - but a 128kbps AAC's quality is probably the equivalent of a 160+ kbps mp3.

I dont know how much you know about SLR camera's, i suppose something. My dads got one, and i can guarentee you that no phone camera will touch a SLR with a 78-foot pole. The smallest SLR is 10 Mega Pixels, and most of them come with a 70 - 300 lens (pretty average for SLR, but about 397 times better than that of one on a phone) This might be a bit off topic and you might see me as talkin absolut cr@p, but its something that i think i kno a bit above average about and am able to put some factual information into...

its sometimes more and sometimes less


lol i've been told dual cores are the most poerful and top end product that only IC sells


and they still sell P4's!!! P4 2.8GHz for R2000 wtf

ok - its o/t but a cellphone has to keep size down so everything suffers. IMO a dSLRs main advantage over a cellphone or point and shoot is the size and quality of the sensor and the lens.
 
I hate incredible connections!
I generally have to do the job for the sales people.

Goto the shop, check what games they have (for example) and go home and phone that store and ask them if they have a 'certain' game, R10 bet they'll say they don't have it in stock!

Happens to me EVERYTIME.

Also, the sales reps don't really know whats cooking in their stores... It's hard to find someone who knows what he is talking about!

Only buy there is you really have no other choice!

That type of comparison is very bad at best but granted AAC is much better at handling low bit rates than MP3, at higher bit rates the advantage becomes less obvious.

VBR HE-AAC @ 64kBit/s encoded by Nero's latest encoder will be hard to ABX on a IPod (by most people). Not sure if it supports it tho...

Anyway those x amount of songs on a play of y amount of gigs comparisons are never any good, in fact they are terrible, I think it should be made mandatory for ppl to take some kind of computer literacy course for them to be declared literate, it would avoid situations like these.

Exactly, how can that idiot even compare them, anyway, i mentioned 10 mega-pixels but it really means nothing in the world of lenses, unless your using the stock lens
 
I will NEVER buy from IC, except maybe from their bargain bins.

I once heard a salesperson there tell someone that they shouldn't buy an AMD CPU because it get's so hot that the paint on the case actually peels off.


OT from thread I know but I just had to vent @ IC
