BF2 Maps and local Servers

Hi, all
Yes, another newbie question :)

Google skills ok, found a few new maps, but how to install?

I never played BF2 online before, only LAN and SP, but recently found
the addictive pleasure of online gaming, now I want more...
More maps , mods and local servers,

Anyone out there hoe can tell me what the best server are,
for playing BF2 in SA. and where to get maps and mods that works with
MS Vista.

And the "How to install" bit,
I would really appreciate your help.

Everyone pretty much plays the standard BF2 in SA, except on wednesdays where special forces is played.

Extra maps? Try Highway Tampa, its included in the map rotation on vanilla :)
 
Got COD4 love it,
Installed Highway tampa map ,doesn`t change a thing in sp, is it only for online?
 
Ya Highway Tampa is only online oriented but you do get the necessary files on the net to enable it for sp use as well, just google for battlefield singleplayer and go from there :)

It seems Vista is the main prob. patch 1.41 and maps don`t install right , will try one of my xp
systems, and then see what happens.
 
Hi,
asus-gaming has BF2 map installer, do I need to use it or something like it?
I Just cannot get new maps installed, or rather, can`t seem to get them to work, even after what appears to be successful installation, anyone got hints?
P.s Happy new year!!!!
 
bf2:highway tampa 1.41

i have bf2 complete collection on window vista and reasonly wanted to install different mode> "Operation Peacekeeper" but i first wanted to try some thig easy as practise.i install "highway tampa 1.41" but that didnt work :( i geet game messege "you do not have the map whitch is in rotation on this game server" i all ready download it took me about 40 min.can some one help me! what did i do wrong wrong patch or is vista S.O.S

Big SA community. Local servers can be found by filtering on server name. Filter for "-= SGS" (without the quotes).
Go over to games.saix.net and browse to the forums for more info.
 
did u read my post? u totaly answear a completly different question. i know how to find the server play highway tampa the problem is when i try to connect i get the messege that i dont have the map but i all ready download it and ther for i have it.but i think i mite not have the full version and need some kind of patch or maybe vista save it some wher els? VISTA!!!

Well you are hijacking someone else's thread so dont get all snotty.

Re-install the 1.41 patch on bf2, then after you have installed that make sure you have the correct Highway tampa map installer, if you are unsure then Go to ftp.games.saix.net and pull it from the BF2 directory on there.
Most maps dont work very well in single player as they werent designed for that and the bots dont have paths programmed for the maps.

If you are playing online then I can pretty much garantee you that you wont get bored for a while as it takes ages to get all your unlocked weapons and to master the maps/game dynamics.

Oh and teabaggin is a good skill to learn :p

Final, I use XP rather than Vista for similar reasons to this.
Maybe take a look around on the SGS forums, you can find them on games.saix.net there should be some decent info on there.
Just come play normal BF2 online, you wont be dissapointed.

sorry for not being a good sport it's 4:26 am here and i been on this since 3:00 pm close to 13 hours and getting no whear.ill try ur advice hope for the best and thank you for your help.i get back to you for the resualts.

Its all good, Try those im pretty sure they will work.
I have had similar problems with it and the re-install of the 1.41 patch floowed by highway tampa and other map updates normally works then.

Now that I think about it, if you are going to be playing single player stuff and you want some kind of map/mod then AIX is definately what you are looking for, new weapons, maps, vehicles. Its awesome.
 
Don`t have much choice in the matter , but agree it ROCKs

Thanks, Do like sp, but online is my new main thing, will try AIX anyway
