I'm trying to connect my brothers PS3 to his wireless AP, with no success. I'm about to try a few tips I've seen here, but I noticed something.

If I double click on the network connection, and select properties - I have only 4 things listed there :

Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
QoS Scheduler
Internet protocol (TCP/IP)

Is it possible I need more things, like that NetBIOS? How can I get them all back as default without having to install each manually?
 
Had a bit of trouble doing this myself, my issue was with a marconi router.

Made sure the ip address range was big enough for a few devices and not just pc.

Made sure I added mac addy of ps3 as mac filtering was enabled.

And made sure I didnt enter Wep/Wpa key with an O as its a 0 as its hex only.

Make sure you have good signal.

you have the defaults already, netbios is a lagacy name resolution protocol, you dont need it as xp automatically uses it as a backup if dns/ wins doesn't work.
 
... or if you have games that network on IPX. Even with XP, SC doesnt work without adding the NetBios protocol.

Unless you update it with the newest patch which includes full TCP/IP support without the need for IPX/SPX :)
