Creating ISO's from dvd files?

Does anyone know of a program that can turn dvd files (on the HDD ) into iso. Reason i ask is handbrake ( used to convert from dvd - avi ) requires either the dvd ( as in dvd in dvd drive ) or a iso image on the hdd. It wont let me, or i cant find out how to, add dvd files from my hdd.

Also many programs ive downloaded which convert dvd files to iso's only do it if the dvd files are actually on a dvd in the drive, also wont let me add the files from hdd.

Any ideas on what else i can use?

I know of a program that might let you turn the dvd files on the HDD directly into avi. haven't tested it myself but maybe it works

oh btw its the ImToo ripper pack

I know of stax like dvd-avi etc etc but some of the programs out there have a shocking output quality an d some also only do the video ( which then means having to extract sound, encode it and then virtualdub it back in = too much pt ), handbrake is well recommended

ill try winavi, sounds familiar but ill try it. Nero? if that is to create .iso images, strangely my nero 8 does not have an option to create images.... only backups but i think those are two very different things.

edit: tried winavi, but is there anything thats freeware.... encodes with this annoying text smack in the middle of the screen.. only way to remove it is with IB and $29.95 :( ( dont encode enough dvd's to justify paying that much )

You could try InfraRecorder, I've not tested it myself but i know that it does iso's
 
Cool tx. Downloaded a good handful of unsuccessful programs, but why stop now. Im bound to hit something :D

I heard you could find it on thepiratebay.org. But that could just be a rumour :D Paying for over priced software which accepts no liability for any damages it may do to your system (EULA) is apparently the right thing to do. Imagine if your car came with a EULA....
 
Yeah im sure there's hundreds of keygens out there for it, but i dont go near keygens, its a viruses best friend and even if my av says its clean i stay well away from it.

If that doesnt work try dvd decrypter.
 
Easy. Use Nero + and change your output from your DVD burner to Image File. Then select ISO file when saving it.

Tried it already but options of sources are either my cdrw or dvdrw.

Doesnt matter either way tho, even when i did manage to get it into .iso format handbrake tells me "ERROR: No title(s) found".

Now the dvd-avi im getting only convert 5min freeware.. what a f'ing headcase this is becoming

I know it is a struggle on PC,

Use DVD shrink to rip the DVD to a folder on you're drive rather than an iso then use handbrake to read the folder as a dvd and burn it.

On my mac I'm able to rip directly from DVD with handbrake no decryption needed :)

DVD Shrink will open DVD Files on you HDD and then resave it as a DVD Compliant ISO.
FairUse Wizard 2 will open DVD files on you HDD and convert it to any AVI format you like.

Both those two applicactions are quite dependable and give quality results!

No ISO option is there too. The menu design is just seriously farked-up and counter-intuitive. If you can't find it, you can always load the iso into a virtual driver like daemon tools to cheat.

For these kind of games you should really use a virtual driver to test if the end result is any good before burning it to a real DVD.:cool:
 
Remember to open DVD files on your HDD it still needs to be DVD complient i.e. IFO + VOB files - had you lost the IFO's then your in big duu-duu, then you need to use a tool like VirtualDub MPEG 2 to convert the VOB files to avi, or you can reauther it using DVD Lab Pro (which is expensive to buy).

If I understand correctly; you got DVD files from a dvd onto your HDD and no you want them into an ISO yes? You can just create an ISO you need to create a DVD Compliant ISO and DVD Shrink will certain help you (if you the files on you HDD is DVD compliant)
