So wife and I played AoE3 last night.

In comparison to AoE2, v3 sucks. The graphics is nice, but the major drawback is that you don't have the same level of controls on your armies as with AoE2.

So we're back to AoE2 :D

I don`t know about that, AoE III is far better for me.
And the control is about the same , the locations of controls was moved yes,
but its all there. So tubs up from me for AoE III

I must agree with The Librarian. My girlfriend and myself are also back to ver. 2

@ snakes - we do cheat in aoe2, but use a cheat to speed up building etc, otherwise it'll be too boring. Only that one. :)

Age of Empires 2

Age of Empires 2 is way way better than 3 because the controls and the way u can control ur arms on 3 sucks the graphics might be way better but the general gameplay has taken a nose dive

I prefer Age of Mythology...haven't really been able to try AoEII though because for some weird reason it keeps scrolling the camera up, and there's nothing I can do to stop it  None of my keys are stuck or anything.

Hmm interesting. I was actually thinking of buying 3 for my gf since she loved 2 so much. geuss get her another sims 2 expansion. think there is a new one each month :p

Like the Rise of nation games more myself. AoE3 seems old. It doesn't have many of the interface enhancements of newer games. Or I need to study a manual.

- Idle villagers: Select with . and viewpoint jumps to the villager. So moving 10 idle villagers onto a task requires you to press . 10 times, find the spot 10 times and click 10 times. Several games support the shift + period approach. Every press selects an additional worker, and it doesn't shift the viewpoint.
- Auto-explore: Unit runs around like an idjut, but doesn't require you to click.
- Villager auto-tasking.
- Formation direction by holding right-button.

bah - it just feels dated.

What about Empire earth3?

i got empire earth I ages ago and i was hugely disappointed. the game play was slow and it took foreva to do anything.

rise of nations to me is a perfectly balanced game. rise of nations is like AOE but with great enhancements. IMHO AOE3 should have thrashed RON, but didn't.

Im gonna wait till EMpire Earth hits silver or someone conveniently drops an ISO somewhere :D

Lol i`ve been playig AOE 2 since the day it came out , i excel at RTS .I once versed my bro with his two computer allies set on hard :) They all got smashed but in the end i had to build a wonder to win.

I also have Rise on nations Gold + the thrones and patriots expansion it borrows ideas from Games like Civilization , Aoe2, C&C but if you played these games you will like RON its pure strategy , its a great game but the campaigns are gay and they suck balls ! playing scenarios are much more entertaining

AOE2 has to be the best of the lot, and if you can lay your hands on a Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, plus add-on pack Clone Campaigns, it is the Star Wars version of Age of Empires, same interface as AOE2, except Star Wars, ........Jedi, Imperial Walkers, Tie Fighters, Sith, etc
IMHO better than AOE2, slightly quicker build WRT resources.
