Thread: Where do I get an Arduino locally?

For those interested: How about an Arduino for < R20 ?

    http://za.rs-online.com/web/c/?sra=o...ATTiny&x=0&y=0

Then, as other posters mentioned: Netram is a great resource for Arduino related goods, RS does stock most of it, and then we have our own hacker zones / maker groups -- http://www.house4hack.co.za/

One ATtiny device does not constitute an Arduino

I don't disagree: on the other hand if you just need a bit of processing somewhere, why pay R300 if you can only pay R30?

Definitely think the Arduino is way better for hobby purposes, but it's a bit expensive if you want to use many.

For those that want to go the easy route, you can always wait for the Pi ... (http://www.raspberrypi.org/)

    Interesting project, that.

Model A, Model B, reminds me of the old BBC Micro days

    Default AT Tiny @ House4hack

Love the ATTiny, you can programme it using the Arduino IDE (after loading the required core http://code.google.com/p/arduino-tiny/ ). Also great for running from battery.

One Tuesday evening at House4Hack (www.house4hack.co.za), Amanica and I also hacked together Arduino shields for programming the AT Tiny using some prototyping board and some spare components :

If you don't mind waiting: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EKitsZone-UN...ht_1044wt_1163

Shields from eBay also cost a fraction of what they sell for locally. For example:

You could try http://robotics.org.za/ They're quite an efficient bunch of people there and it takes about 2 - 3 days to get delivered to you.

Disagree. Low power is the one thing that goes for it, and it is still a decent learning board. An Arduino could be better & cheaper or maybe a STM32F4 discovery board, PIC Microstick board. If you can be patient and use ebay, you could pack in a lot more value for money. The AVRButterfly is not enough for what R203 gave me in my dabblings.
