    Default Focus RS

The above article does not have that much info on the new RS, but the March issue of TopCar has some. Something like 229kw delivered to the front wheels (yep, no AWD on this one). The Ford RS people seem to think it will deliver the power just fine with the help of some fancy diff they have developed. Time will tell I guess.

We never got the previous one, thanks to our fuel. But with the introduction (and relative success) of other similar type cars, Ford might think of getting some examples in.

Your thoughts? Personally, I'm hoping if it comes around to SA, I would be able to afford it by 2010/2011.

    You can it'll cost around R340k - R350k

Yes, it is FWD, but it looks different to that of the pics provided in TopCar, trust me.

The fancy diff they are using is a Quaife ATB LS Diff, you can see it here... http://www.quaife.co.uk/Ford-Focus-S...B-differential

The reason Ford went for the FWD is because the diff actually provides extreme grip, and by applying an AWD system they would actually lose it's power-to-weight ratio as the AWD system would've meant adding another 100kg - 150kg...

Thanks for the info on the diff.

I hope all goes according to plan in the next couple of years for me to be able to afford an RS or Evo X to zip around tracks on the weekend. The RS has more power, but I have doubts about how it is going to that power to the road. But hey they have a few WRC titles so they know more than me.
