Question Best car for R150,000 or less?

    Sup guys

Looking to get some new wheels.

Primary reason is driving from Pta West to Sandton everyday so I need something reliable that'll give me a smooth ride and make traffic more bearable.

I prefer hatches, not sedans. It's gotta come in automatic for mom to drive too over weekends.

    Let's get some suggestions..

    TIA

I'd go Honda Jazz, R145000 for the 1.4 Auto and a little bit more at R159000 for the 1.5 Auto.

Failing that there is the Yaris Auto, the Sirion Auto and I'm not sure but I imagine Mazda must have an auto in the 2 - range.

If there is an auto Mazda my vote would go for that. All cars however have low consumption, great value and should get you where you need to go very comfortably.

Yip, we were also thinking of the Yaris and my mom is not too hot on Hyundai so the Sirion is out unfortunately.

Yet again you're spot because we also said we want to find out if the Mazda 2 comes in an automatic.

Just to fill you in on something.... the Sirion is a Daihatsu (not a Hyundai) which is owned by Toyota and the dirty little secret is that for a lot less you're basically getting a Yaris. The engine and I think a lot of mechanical insides are exactly the same as the Yaris.
Car magazine have voted it very highly over the past 5 years, only losing out to the Mazda 2 this year in that segment. I don't think I would buy a Yaris as I find it bland and over priced.
