How will the R49.00 "surcharge" be added to pre paid bundles IF we go the 3.6m route ?
Can`t add R49.00 to every add hoc we buy..A once off with the first bundle ?
How is this going to work?

It will be a separate charge, have a look at the Terms & Conditions for 3.6 - it is explained quite well there.

Look at data and speed as two different products you can buy.

Any 'speed' up to HSDPA 1.8 is included in your bundle price. Any service above HSDPA 1.8 carries a Value Added Service (VAS) charge.

Data bundles you buy as per normal.

So you can buy a PPDB at any time and will get it for 30 days. In a similar manner, you can buy the 3.6 service at any time on pre-paid, and it'll last 30 days.

So they need not run at the same time, but it would make more sense.

this 3.6mb service, will it be optional for contract customers? As i do not wish for this service to be activated on my account, i don't even peak my speed with 1.8. So 3.6 will be a total waste of money.

Completely optional and you can turn it on or off whenever you like (at least on month-end boundaries).
