I think this is a good start by Neotel. When comparing like-for-like services Neotel is certainly a great deal cheaper than any competitor. A lower end offering with a fair usage limit will most likely attract even more interests – I hope Neotel launches such a products taking on Telkom’s DSL384 offering in May.

Great move to bring affordable out-of-bundle rates to consumers. I wonder how many people will prefer a lower usage limit at a reduced price when it is only 7 c per MB out-of-bundle.

Finally! A like for like comparison chart.

Sadly Notel's offer isn't even remotely suitable for my needs. Unless I'm wrong in assuming that it will not perform as good as my 4Meg ADSL line when it comes to gaming. Im tired of all this wireless nonsense. We need competitors with last mile access in fibre or copper form. Is this so hard? Apparently....

Like I said earlier in another thread - give the boys a chance. Don't be so quick to judge. Even if they were a cent cheaper or even the same price as Telkom I'd support them.

They are certainly cheaper. However as I stated its wireless therefore not suitable. I hope that it causes the others prices to drop though.

The same price per GB as Telkom but slower, wow, earth shattering stuff there. I'm not jumping ship for that and crap hardware. It's bloody pathetic that they didn't even undercut Telkom let alone IS on the GB/price.

Looks like we're all set for a duopoly, perhaps there will be a TNO sometime then we can get three ways like on the mobile side.

I really want to know what their pure bandwidth / data connection fees are - I care very little for the minutes and SMSes. One can only hope...

1000 free on-Net minutes does not include calls to Telkom/Vodacom/MTN/Cell C. Pathetic. I'm not too impressed.

    Is is shaped or unshaped?

With interest rates going up and tightening the belt, R600 will be a bit steep for the time being.

By comparison, the Telkom Closer 5 option R651 for:

Unlimited National Calls during Callmore time (up to an hour a call)
    1000 Standard time minutes
    Per second billing
    4096kbps DSL

This excludes ISP fee. Given this package, I really expected Neotel to come in cheaper...
