off the top of my head, and Im no techie expert, there're much more heavy duty experts on forum than me, but I've had this a couple of times since getting mywireless. (Not often but at least two or three times. Havent had it for a while though)
My first thought was the power-saving option, so its not that - unless you also have a screensaver which comes on, which might be doing things over time. You dont say how much ram you have, something could be using it up gradually. Some appz use huge amounts over a ten hour period..
a)if you have a firewall up - check or enable the logging facility to see if anyone was pinging or 'nuking' you..
b)scan your system using freebie/shareware anti-spyware and anti-trojan appz - (I use all of these): The Cleaner, BPS Spyware Remover, Lavasoft Adaware 6, Pest Patrol, and Spyware Blaster (which blocks entrance of a number of known spyware bits)
c) run a couple of antivirus progs - I use Norton, F-Prot, with occasional uses of Kaspersky AV
d) run a registry 'cleaner' app - like Registry First Aid or Registry Healer - in case your registry is getting too bloated (dont mess with this unless you know what you're doing though

e) update your direct X drivers..
hope some of the above checklist helps
