how would you know if your xbox is updating?? if had mine for 2 months now, the 360 S, and never got a message telling me it has to update? i mainly play online so when i connect to XBL it should tell me there is a updated available??? also, i cant watch any movies/series from my HDD??? keeps on giving me errors and when i try to download the media update, it just does nothing... if formatted the memory unit and external HDD but no luck...

If an update was requred and you didnt update, you would not be able to play online - so basically your firmware is uptodate.
on the media update if you on a South african live acount, it wont let you download the media codecs, - sign up for anote free live acount but set the country as USA or UK and it will download when you try and play a media file.

i tried what you said and it picks up my locale by deafult as SA???


nevermind...i got the locale sorted out, but still no luck...everytime i want to update the media codec, it just does nothing.... it looks like its just going to start the download and then the dialog box just pops away...

u need to go to the system setting and change that to uk or usa as well just tmporary

i did... created the new profile and everything went smooth.... got online to xbox live , changed the locale, restarted, nothing.... do you think with the new update things will change?? also, when do we get the update?? its been a week now and i still haven't recieved the update

on the update not sure, they normaly release it differnt regions at a time so no idea

You can download the update via their website under the support section. Did it for a mate of mine, worked fine.

Try a creating a XBox live account online with your pc. Set you local to the U.K. Then retrieve the gamer tag from the xbox and then try DL the codecs.

I tried to play a BRRip vid through my USB stick and I noticed the odd hitch. Would that be the xbox or the USB?

Could be both the console and the video file, I dont use my xbox 360 as a media center persay but I do use PS3MS if I wanna stream movies on the fly. A very handy program I must say.

I have connected my xbox360 120gb through my acer aspire 4315 laptop using my vodafone 3g k3565-z modem. I have been getting nat setting errors when I test my xboxlive connection. Keeps telling me that I have a nat setting set to moderate. I have scrounged the web for answers and finally found out that my apn must be set to unrestricted. After a 5 minute call to 082 155 they did it over the phone no mess no fuss. I have received the confirmation message that my apn is now unrestricted. My reception is not hot and I get two bars with an hsdpa connection fluctuating between poor and good.

I want to play online with a friend in the same town but we cannot connect.

I can't interact with users online while playing online and I can speak to them through my head phone during a game, but a guy who lives a kilometre away, I can't.

How can I get an "open" nat setting, instead of open?

I have litteraly tried reinstalling everything on my laptop, I'm running win7 and 3g updated software.

I just bought a Billion 810gtvx from telkom.

So the problem is that i cannot find any joy on how to forward the ports for my Xbox 360.

I had the telkom mega 105wr which was no problem..

I went to portforward.com, they dont have this spesific routers details there...

I have not used my Hotmail account that I used for Live for a while and it says someone else is using the account. so in essence I cannot log into my Live Account. Can I not create a new profile but keep my achievements?

contact xbox and tell them the situation.. i thought I had lost my account cause same situation where I hadnt played for a long time and it said someone else is using the account. So I created a new account.

But then recently I got the hell in as all my older games I had to restart and unlock the items again!! So I phoned xbox and told them the situation and they helped me sort it out.
