Today is going to be a good day.We have reached promised land and ,according to sentech, we will be getting our speed back TODAY .Let's start posting as soon we get our speed back for more than 1 hour. And i hope that it will not be zero reply at the same time tomorrow.

At 2:42, hardly anyone is using the network. It's now nearly 7am and my 256K is behaving like a 64K. It really pisses me off that Sentech can't get their packages right. People on a 128K are scoring big time.

uhm...just dont get to excited guys.

Chances of this being a fals promise is good.

Lets hope Murphy saw that and prooves me wrong...

well, we definately didn't see an improvement - to the contrary, our speed sucked last night and this morning! :(

wouldn't even load news24...

on 82, which is normally VERY good... guess i'll have to try and find 12 again... ugh...

this does NOT look good.

*If* there is a changes in speeds, it wont be 00:00am Friday(Today) It will most likely only be implemented today, and we should start seeing overall improvements over the weekend...I think.

Event our uninformed call centre do not know when the magic will be back 100%... but I have startd to get at least 9.8K/s.

Good day,

Unfortunatly, we don't have an ETA as to what time the
issue should be resolved. Please be assured that our
tehnicains are working on the issue.

It might be useful, funny, and informative, for folks to take turns at phoning the Orcs at the callcentre and asking them the following, and then posting the answers:

1. As far as you know, has there been a problem on the network?
2. Are you aware that we have been told that there WAS a problem on the network, and it was promised that it would be fixed TODAY?
3. What was the problem? (Or is the workaround still in place?)
4. What time today is the 'fix' being applied?
5. Can you open a job ticket in this regard, and please leave it open.

this ought to create some interesting answers, as we see what the Orcs have been told, or what they're thinking, or whether there in fact is any 'fix' at all..

CALLED TECH SUPPORT: SPOKE TO LOUIS

1] He was very aware that speed was to be fixed today
2] Said speed would increase sometime during course of the day but couldnt give me exact time
3]He said that there was a problem in settings of individual towers but that problem has been diagnosed and solution being implemented.

Seems consisten with what Rodents' new babe Mz. Potgieter said

After writing the above, a lightbulb went on in my head (given the weirdness of the slowdown, and the firmness of people in saying 'its going to be fixed today' from Sentech side) and I've written a lengthy explanation as it occurred to me, for the whole slowdown. It's in its own thread..

Oh so now I'm a 'Valued Customer' am I, you bastids..

yeah i also got this canned message, i wonder if this has anything to do with the 'fix' promised for today, of course if it is then its hardly a surprise that they are only going to be 'fixing 'it tomorrow morning, and i doubt it will really 'fix' anything

Even if the speeds do suddenly reappear i think that Sentech OWES us a decent explanation as to what has been happening. I'll be very happy to have more speed back, BUT i still want an explanation from Sentech, hell i'd even really like an apology too, but i don't expect the world from these people, just the bandwidth which is rightfully OURS!

In all likely hood i believe they would never tell us what the problem is/was because this way they can just pull the same stunt over and over again.

Let us spare a thought for all of those MyWi users who DONT know about MyADSL, and who are sitting at their PC's cursing Sentech everyday whilst the Orcs provide a right royal f%C^ around.

BTW I just noticed that they sent that email to '[email protected]'

Does anyone want to 'test' this? Maybe with an URL to the forum, the BD article and a link to sentechsucks.co.za

This could seriously swell the ranks of support

someone I know from this forum has just tried the all@ email addy - using a hotmail for anonymity - it doesnt seem to work..
Does anyone know of a syntax that'll auto-deliver mail to *.* @domain?

With regard to things "being fixed by Friday", I would suggest to anyway wait until Monday before declaring that anything has been completely 'fixed', because from Friday afternoon to Monday morning is "quiet time" on the whole Internet, i.e. off-peak usage, so (in theory but depending on Sentech's arrangments with IS) there will inherently be more bandwidth available during the weekend, so I wouldn't get too excited yet.
