In response to Alan Knott-Craig

An excellent column by Duncan giving a good summary of events. I am still surprised by Alan Knott-Craig's defense of Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri…

For a self-proclaimed free marketeer and someone who has always professed to want less government interference and greater certainty for investors, Knott-Craig’s column was disingenuous.

Find myself agreeing with that.
Nice one Duncan!

what a fool

what an idiot:mad: if she was anything it was anti competion, she was determined to stop any company from building there own network, one can only wonder how much gravy telkom was giving her on her ride, good riddance to both of you , you make me positively sick:(

Lol what a idiot. He's probably still running dial up and is like, "0mg!!11 1 h@v3 h1gh sp33d!!!1 & unc@pp3d! i 0wn"

What a thick head..really.

I think his "legacy" of trying to back-up Ivy is going to outlast any other legacy he may have built.

this made /me

He added: “For instance, the telecommunications industry has been fortunate to benefit from the light but firm touch of … Matsepe-Casaburri and her team.”

Heavyhanded and draconian would be closer to the truth.

Maybe the future lies in photography not in writing.....................

Well, considering how much money Vodacom made from Ivy's mismanagement (by preventing competition), who is surprised?

Well, he's having a jol on retirement, making his money with his company colluding for our money with their ridiculously priced services. And his son.....

Everyone is forgetting that Alan Knott Craig made truck loads of cash (tens if not hundreds of millions) running Vodacom without any serious competition. Think about it. Ivy and co in effect served, even if inadvertantly (though I don't believe this), to protect his interest in his incumbent.

He's not a stupid man. Just a very very shrewd one. And I'm not complimenting him. I mean that in the most derogatory and scummy way possible.

I think it's clear who was paying off/Convincing Ivy to keep the new players out of the market. She was very addament to make sure it didn't happen and that raised allot of questions.

Who is she trying to protect ?
Is she gaining financialy from this ?

Now with the above article even if Knott had nothing to do with any such matters, makes one see why these questions where asked to begin with.

I was going to tap out some harsh criticisms of AK-C's “illustrate how the free market can make things happen without unnecessary interference from government” statement, but Duncan has summed up AK-C's warped statements as being disingenuous - a polite way of saying that AK-C is lying through his teeth and he knows it.

What offends me the most about AK-C's verbal kissing of Poison Ivy's arse, is that at the time of his writing, AK-C must have thought we [readers] were all cretins and would not be able to tell the lies from the truths.

I really think AK-C has ruined his own reputation, hopefully his fiction writing career is at an end.

“For instance, the telecommunications industry has been fortunate to benefit from the fat & bludgeoning touch of … Matsepe-Casaburri and her team.”
