Default Web Intact (Or intactless service)

Hopefully I am at the right place. Has anybody heard of Web Intact, that are operating here in the Vaal Triangle. They offer 2.4Ghz internet access at R550/month.

They claim up/down speeds of 256k - 512k , no cap on bandwidth and as far as contention ratio I could not find anything. The website is www.webintact.com
Maybe somebody heard about them, and can give more info/background.

If thats the only startup option, it seems a bit excessive.

Maybe they HAVE been shot, and so didn't have time to rectify their initial balls-up. [:D]

Still on ISDN... watch this space.

    Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd let you all know what's in the pipeline with Web Intact...

I am part of a team of people with substantial business and RF skills who have just joined up with Web Intact with the view to enabling the company to become a reliable alternative to the current Wisp's.

Work has already begun on upgrading all the existing Access Points to a higher standard, and already improved service reliabilty is being provided.

We have access to all the major high site points around Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Swaziland, and you can be sure these will be exploited to offer superior coverage for those areas in these early stages. There are some AP's in Durban and Cape Town, but for now the coverage is primarily in the PWV area.

At this stage the setup cost is more in the region of R2200, and that's not too bad set against the comparitive cost of an ADSL modem.

Thereafter, the subscription fees are in the region of R300 - R1000, depending on your bandwidth requirements.

The website is on the list of 'to do' items for the shakeup and upgrade of the company and network, but you can be assured of a vast improvement... the help line has already had it's turn bein' 'whipped into shape'....

Any questions, please feel free to direct them to me.

    Chat soon,

    Chris

Sorry - router... you're right there, but that also includes all installation costs. I see with places like www.justconnect.co.za/ charge R3300 for their modem, R150 call-out fee, and R500 activation. That gives you a startup cost of R3950! Way too much...

Home users can expect slightly lower setup costs.

Oh - and there's no cap...

Not being pessimistic or anything, but we have heard the whole "no cap" thing quite a lot.
