I wanted to watch today's episode of my all-time idol, Oprah , on SABC3, and noticed that there are no annoying continuity presenters to repeat what the commercial right before the show just said. Are they gone? Forever?

M-Net was first to get rid of their continuity presenters in February 2002, followed shortly by SABC2. KykNET got rid of theirs in 2006 and SABC1 in early 2008. Now finally, it seems, SABC3 gave theirs the boot.

Here follows the familiar cycle right before each episode of The Amazing Race (which is repeated before EVERY other programme as well):

1.Weather
2.SABC3 Commercial advertising Saturday's movie
3.SABC3 Ident showing what will be shown on SABC3 tonight, including what show is coming up next
4.Continuity presenter says what movie is coming up this Saturday and says what show is coming up next.

this is a very important topic and i'm glad you added so many tags so i can easily find this thread again.

but seriously though....who watches SABC?

Simunye, we are one!!!

Apparently SABC3 is going to show a lot more Afrikaans content, and commission new Afrikaans programmes along with SABC2.

That's true sometimes...

One thing worth having SABC for these days are the sunday election debates on SABC2... shocking stuff.

Some parties made me realize that the ANC is not that bad, things could be worse if we had some of the other parties in power.

hey Jacob likes afrikaaners so all of the SABC is gonna be afrikaans from now on.

Thank God. I couldn't stand those presenters. Who in their right mind wants to watch some bastard with waxed eyebrows tryin' to tell me what's coming on in his dumbass accent. Just display the text, I can read just fine.

Wasn't ETV the first? They never had presenters ever and I'm sure they came out before 2002...
