Default Neotel Creating New "network connection" everytime computer is restarted

    Hello Everyone...

A friend of mine is having a problem with neotel.

He installed Vista and then neoconnect but now everytime he connects with neoconnect it gives him a new connection...

So lets say the first time it says Connection 1
then connection 2 and so on and so forth

Then also just to clear up, it asks him what kind of network are you connecting to? Home, Work, Public?

    Thanx allot

Wish that I could help. But I don't have Neotel, and I hate Vista.

No clue man. Works fine for me on XP and Linux. On XP I set up standard connection instead of using Neotel's software. Of course you need to install the device drivers.

Optionally I think your friend should try getting hold of the new Vista RC which is said to be backwards compatible with XP and its software.

This is because he is using the neoconnect software to dial the connection, tell him not to use the neoconnect manager software and use a normal shortcut to the dial up connection, or click "start" then "connect to" and dial the connection from there, to solve the problem.

This has nothing to do with rebooting the pc, it is directly related to using the neoconnect manager. I.E. disconnect and then reconnect with the neotel manager and it will once again create a new connection.

he tried to do that but it kept on giving him an error...

It deletes the connection everytime but everytime the irritating part is it keeps asking him what type of connection it is...

And uhm it didn't do that on XP

Look trust me, it is definately directly related to the neoconnect manager, I don't know what error it gives him (a little more info would help) but if he doesn't want a new connection created everytime then he is going to have to bypass the neoconnect manager as that software for whatever reason is recreating the connection. As for it not doing it on xp I don't know why, but on vista this is definately the case.

The only way i know of to do this is to use a dial up connection. The connection should already be there. All he needs to do is create a shortcut to it on his desktop and to remove the neoconnect manager application or simply stop using it. Perhaps the error was due to him trying to dial up while the neoconnect manager was running?

Ok this is what I've done:

Slipstreamed neoconnect v1.9 into Vista, then once installed there's no need to install Neo Manager as device drivers are installed. Then do a normal dial up and off you go.

If you don't want to slipstream then install manager and unstall program thereafter, that way you leave the drivers behind. Do a normal dial up and alles is good to go. I had the same problem when I first got the device.
