Telkom Boycott

Impossible unfortunately - the cost to business would be absurd.

What would be fun would be a widespread non-payment boycott :D
 
But Telkom was rated the 2nd most loved company in SA.. who will boycott them?! :)
 
I had this idea a while back but it just didn't seem worth wile to post - if it was on a Sunday and everyone used cellphones for one day it could work.

Maby it should just be residentual with businesses who can afford it taking part - they could prehaps still show their support by speaking out and maby just using cell phones for outgoing calls - MTN, Vodacom and CellC would have a feild day!
 
The best way to tackle Telkom is to use Voip for as many outgoing calls as possible.

That will prompt possible actions, negative or positive :-

1. Negative - increase prices on broadband internet access + cap local traffic
2. Positive - lower thier call rates in line with Voip pricing

Well try again ... Telkom owns 50% of Vodacom.
Anyways this a silly idea ... it is like being a gnat on the back of an elephant.
 
Remember skype calls wont work after you are capped to local landlines in SA or overseas landlines nor any Cellphones

So once the cap gets you, there is no escape :D

Not a bad idea. The deregulation section is not that busy and the two do seem to fit together.

Boycott is not necessary at this point in time.
(brandband)consumers can vote Telkom out with wallets.Choose Sentech,iBurst ,SNO.....

fix-line local-call cost is a problem,lets see what impacts VOIP can make on the market .........

The sad thing is, if VOIP hurts Telkom, government will have (to their minds) more insentive to outlaw it. The chances of them thinking "hey, this stuff can really be a good alternative to the traditional phone" is remote...

I do however hope they see the light.

It IS possible .

We are capable of launching successful campagin of any kind.

And it is within consumer's right to do so.

Ever since the begining of civilization or invention of commerce itself.

Buyers Always have the right to negotiate,complain,bargain with sellers

Therefor consumer's right is in fact .one of the oldest right never documented.

Our ancestors had been excercising this right long before any constitution is written.Even before monetary transactions took place,buyers bargain with sellers during batter trades - for better deals.

Well if we all chip in R20 we could get to R59280 - enough (i think) to launch a tv and radio campain - though we could be sued for causeing mass rioting . . .

Not at all,consumer mass action is protected by constitution.As long as it is done in a peaceful manner,no weapons or violence involved.
