I've got a couple of avi files where the sound track does not match the video, either lagging or leading. Does any expert know of an editing software program that can be used to match the sound track with the video and then to re-save the avi file? All possitive suggestions will be highly appreciated

Try virtualdub (www.virtualdub.org). It's quite a cool free utility for editing avi's. If the sound lag is constant, you can set the delay on the audio track to get it to play earlier of later as required. If the sound starts off in syc and gets progressively further behind the video, then it could be a frame rate issue. If this is the case, there's a setting in the program to set the frame rate so audio and video durations match.

Good luck.

I use Sony Vegas Pro for my video editing stuff. You should be able to sort it with that. Btw the avi's might not be the problem it could be codecs issue? Just putting it out there.. .

System is not the problem. It is the avi file itself

Well if you dont feel like spending alot of time recoding it just watch them on VLC and use the synchronisation feature. . . You can delay or speed up audio relative to video playback:)
