Japanese Giants Launch Web Over Powerline System

Oh man, I sure hope the SNO is taking notice of this !

This is one reason why experts predict the end of DVD discs within the next 5 to 10 years, not to mention the demise of the video shops !
If it's fast enough for high definition TV, why bother to rent or buy DVD's when you can stream them on demand ?

Of course, the way we're going, it'll be 10 years before we see anything like this - but then again, there is the 2010 event and sure as cheese is cheesey, if we don't have a world class wide spread cheap broadband solution by then, we'll be an international laughing stock.

Why does a developped country like SA are so much behind (and much more expensive) international standards.

There is another thing. VCR's are nearly a thing of the past in Germany. DVD Recorder with HD of 80/100/120/160 GB including DVD Burner are so cheap now.
I have enquired locally. The cheapest price for a DVD recorder with an 80 GB HD is about 7999 Rand. The cheapest price in Germany for the same device is now 299 Euro ( 1 Euro = 7,9 Rand).
