How to Try a Slower Line Speed

Alright, with all this talk of uncapped internet, is there a way to "try out" a slower line speed? For instance, could I with a 4Mbps line, throttle myself to a 384Kbps, using my router or software? Just to see what sort of speeds one would get....
 
ROFL.

Download something, then, once it's done, multiply the time that it it took by 10.
Now, for the rest of that time, sit around doing nothing on the internet.

e.g.
Start the download at 10H00 on your 4MB line.
The download finishes at 10H10 on your 4 MB line.
That's 10 minutes.
Now, times 10 miutes by 10, that's 100 minutes.
So, now wait around not using the internet for 90 minutes.

There you go, that's a 384 line.

Sorry, I could not resit. I suspect that there must be some way to force a lower-synch speed, like re-programming the router software.
 
Or phone 0800 375 375 and ask them to change your profile. There is a 4MB profile, 2MB profile, 1MB profile and a 384 profile.
