just a friendly warning to those of you who are capped and use P2P programs like bearshare, kazaa etc. Last night I downloaded a file that was quite big (180mb) and i thought this would take a while so I left bearshare active all night.
This morning when i checked my connection status it said that I have received 190MB and sent 993MB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so there goes my precious Gb'sssssss

remember to log off as soon as u have finished dowloading something or say goodbye to your GB's

well duhr, thats how P2P work, you download and upload, and when the file is finished, you "seed" the file to other people as per normal.

Quite big? Ha, my average file downloads are 4gigs....

Well of course why dont you shape your upload speed on P2P?And you are lucky that you can download anything on P2P me i cannot ....it does upload with 15KB/s and faster but download is like 0.1KB/s....:) but yeah you can controll the upload speed...Lets say if you use eMule there is a patch which allows you to throttle your speed to 1KB/s and have a download with 100KB/s which is quite good...for the rest of this P2P i dont know about any patch but im sure that if u check google.com ull find some good info dude!:D

upload woah

Er, Dude - soz about your uplink cap loss
but try NETLIMITER - u can google it :)

but dont abuse, the file sharing spirit, ie: get one send one!! :P

Experience is the best teacher, but the lessons are always learnt after the facts.

parasite ...

That is why bittorrent is the most important p2p application - you can't be a parasite, you get back what you put in.

I downloaded the latest OpenCD via torrent and ended up uploading about 40% of what I got back - but the download was damn fast from about 30% of the way into the file.

That's the nature of bittorrent - the more of a file you've uploaded, the faster your download based on that and your upload speed and the amount of seeds/downloads.

It's not so lekker for us with our rotten 3gig cap where uploading is counted as data.

u need to crack most p2p programs and dont use bearshare use edonkey with the crack

set your download to 400k and your upload to 1k when its cracked saves lotsa bandwidth

I use lime wire...its ooook :D Still dont share files.bandwidth to precious :)

Just limit the amount of upload slots and max bandwidth allowance

use Bit Torrent the client is free and watch the download until completed, this of course is how p2p works.
